Sunday, May 11 from 10am - noon
WRCJ is pleased to announce plans to broadcast the season finale concert of the Detroit Symphony's Civic Youth Orchestra. Hosted by Jimmy Rhoades and Detroit School of the Arts student Jared Laws, the concert will be broadcast Sunday, May 11 from 10am - noon, (pre-empting The Listening Room) on 90.9FM.
Featured on the broadcast will be interviews with Denise Davis-Cotton, Principal and Founder of the Detroit School of the Arts, Charles Burke, Music Director of the Civic Ensembles, DSO Principal Guest Conductor Peter Oundjian and 14-year-old violinist Emily Hudock, who demonstrated a virtuosic maturity far beyond her years and entranced the Orchestra Hall audience.
"Make no mistake, these kids can play!" said executive producer Chris Felcyn. "When Emily began her cadenza in the Tchaikowsky concerto you literally could have heard a pin drop in that hall. She's fantastic"
