Conductor Andrew Grams and violinist Karen Gomyo, in town to perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, visited Chris to talk about the challenges of Britten's "Violin Concerto," Mozart's "Jupiter" and on making adjustments on the fly during live performances.  Karen also shares how she discovered her passion for violin and the "magic" of a Strad.

DSA Visions EnsembleMarch 3, 2011 - Classical Roots

DSO Civic Symphony conductor Charles Burke and Civic violinist Candice Smith visited Chris Felcyn in the studio to preview an important 3/5/11 fundraiser for the DSO "Classical Roots" series. Also there - and performing live -- were members of the Detroit School of Arts "Visions" male vocal ensemble under the direction of Ms. Cheryl Valentine.  Outstanding!

Rising young violinist Anthony Bracewell stopped by Chris Felcyn's midday program with Maestro Russell to play live on a 1576 Amati violin (left), which he used for Mozart's violin concerto No. 3 in performances with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.

 

 

 

Hunter Muldoon With Chris FelcynJanuary 26, 2011 - Hunter Muldoon

Detroit Public High School (Renaissance HS) junior Muldoon performs on the Marimba live during Chris Felcyn's Well-Tempered Wireless program.  Muldoon is winner of the 2011 Schrock Interlochen Scholarship Competition for DPS students.  Competition judge Ben Pruitt and Hunter's dad Brian are also on hand.  Hunter recently got his arm out of a cast.  Amazing!
