August 6, 2009 - Detroit Public Schools Launches "I'm In" Student Retention Campaign

Detroit Public Schools (DPS) wants to show students, parents, and all in metro Detroit the exciting learning opportunities behind every door in DPS.  Watch for 172 blue doors around the city.  Learn More Now. 

 

 

(5/6/09)  Violin Students to Perform in Lansing and Detroit

 

DPS violin students in grades 4 - 6, under the direction of Flo Robbins Paterni will perform on May 13 in the Capitol Rotunda in Lansing for MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS WEEK.  The Schulze 4th grade Chime Group (Ms. Prueter, choral, chime director) will also perform. Program runs 11:00 AM – Noon.

On May 18, the violin students will perform at the Detroit Light Guard Armory for the 3rd Annual “Salute to Veterans”.   Students will perform 9 - 9:30 AM and then play the Star Spangled Banner and Lift Every Voice when their program begins at approx. 9:40 AM. Information at (866)-348-6304.

(4/23/09) Detroit School of the Arts Wins a Grammy!

Congratulations to the students and staff at the Detroit School of Arts -- one of only six schools nationwide (out of 18,000!) to receive a 2009 GRAMMY Signature Schools Enterprise Award plus a grant of $5,000 for the music program.
