WRCJ lost a valuable member of its broadcasting staff on Friday May 6th. Tony Bruscato passed away surrounded by family. Tony was the voice of morning news and traffic reports on 90.9, providing clarity on the day’s events and the best routes to get you to and from work. Tony quite often interacted with Dave Wagner, the host of The Morning Drive on 90.9. Tony provided news and traffic reports around the Metro Detroit area for nearly 40 years. Dave Wagner and the entire staff of 90.9 send condolences to Tony’s family and friends and his many WRCJ listeners who will miss his voice each morning.
I was wondering where he went. I always liked the way he said “90.9, FM!” at the end of each traffic report. Sad news for sure.
Tony, you will be missed. How many years have you been a fixture to my WRCJ mornings? May God bless you Tony and all your loved ones. We are so sad
Thank you for your kind words David.
every day i wait to hear TONY – here i am all the way into JUNE and decided to do a search…. I am crying as i put this note to comments…. i didnt want to hear such SAD news… BUT had been too long for a ‘vacation’… WRCJ is on every radio and any source i can play the music 24 hours a day… TONY was a part of the morning… certainly i missed the announcement …. sad beyond words
Yes, sorry for the sad news Lynn. Tony will certainly be missed.
I too, am shocked at this news! Didn’t find out until today.
Wishing sympathy and comfort to Tony’s family and WRCJ family.
His voice was always there for us!
Tony will be remembered with love and will be so dearly missed.
My daughter and I would listen to Tony every morning on the way to school. His voice, personality, and banter will be missed for months to come.
What a shock. Tony was such a pleasant way to start my day. He made one of everyone’s challenges each day into a less stressful event.
Thank you Tony.
My sincere condolences to his family.
So very sorry to hear this. Condolences to his family and friends. Tony was part of our mornings for many years, he was a pleasure to listen to.
Just couldn’t let another week go by without expressing sadness on the passing of Tony B. Somewhere along the way I started playing WRCJ throughout the house in the morning as the kids were getting ready for school and we were all making lunches and starting the day. Tony and Dave were a staple of the morning, all fall, winter and spring. Some things just cannot be duplicated. Priceless. Sending prayers.
Thank you Clarinda, we appreciate you tuning in and your kind words for Tony.
As I read through all these beautiful comments made by listeners it touches my heart. Tony loved what he did and he loved this radio station The kind words and love you have shown for him bring so much peace and comfort to Me and his family. Tony was the the love of my life for almost 17 years I had admired him and also made sure I listened to him on the radio myself every day.
I’m behalf of myself and his children and grandchildren thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the beautiful things you said. A comfort and a blessing.
Dave thank you for this beautiful memorial to Tony I know he enjoyed working with you and held you in high regard.
That’s so nice, thank you Lucia. Our listeners certainly loved Tony, as did we. It’s good to hear these comments reached you and brought you some joy.
Sending my condolences to his family-family and his WRCJ family. I will miss him as a listener — for me, he was a part of WRCJ’s anchoring of our humanity in a very odd world.
I loved hearing Tony every morning. Will miss him!!
My condolences to his family and colleagues.
Last Thursday and Friday after the Sousa Alarm when Dave Wagner announced Tony Bruscato for a traffic update, I heard someone else’s voice and wondered what happened. Tony certainly is missed.
God bless Tony, eased my soul many of days. Heaven is lucky to have you Tony.
I can hardly imagine not hearing his voice in the morning, so friendly and resonant.
I am truly heartbroken to hear this news of Tony’s passing. I will miss his voice and interaction. WRCJ has become a family to me since the whole pandemic and I listen to you day and night. The peacefulness I feel from your station has lifted me to higher places. Thank you. God Bless Your All and I wish you peace during this tragic time.
Thank you Steven for those very kind words.
So very sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and co-workers. He and his distinctive morning traffic reports will be greatly missed
I’m so sorry to hear of the death of your friend and colleague. You hear people on the radio for years, and maybe never get a chance to see or meet them in person, but they’re like friends. I’ve lost friends from WRCJ that I’ll miss hearing, but will remember. This is something I would like to say as a way of comfort to Tony’s family and friends, the Bible promises a resurrection Acts 25:15 John 5:28-29 and it is sure to happen Titus 1:2. May this give you some comfort and hope!
Thank you Theodore, that is very nice.
On Dr. Dave’s program this morning, I was shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Tony Bruscato. I looked forward weekday mornings to hearing his distinctive voice, which always made me smile. It was also enjoyable to hear his interactions with Dr. Dave. I will be making a contribution to WRCJ in Tony’s name and offering prayers for him, his family, and all those who cared for him.
We were also quite surprised and saddened when we heard the news. Tony will be missed. Thank you for your nice note and donation.
I am so sorry to hear that. Tony’s voice always had such a positive uplift and I’m realizing it affected my day that way, too–even with only those few seconds. It has to be a shock to WRCJ. I know “the show must go on”–I’m listening to Dave this AM and admiring the courage it must take for him to do so in a manner as much as normal as he is.
Hi Sherry, yes it did come as quite a shock. It’s nice to hear you enjoyed his time on 90.9. Thank you for the note.
My condolences to family and friends. A terrible loss. His voice will be missed.
He certainly will be missed. Thank you Mary.
