Friends for Animals announces the return of the “Home for The Holidays” Christmas Eve adoption initiative. Adoptable dogs and cats can be placed on hold and delivered to their new homes, starting Sunday, December 14, and ending Sunday, December 21. Delivery of pets will be from noon to 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24.

“This is our second year offering this special experience, and after seeing the joy and pure excitement in children’s eyes last year, we knew we had to bring it back. Our wonderful staff will work closely with families to find the best match and walk them through all the important decisions. For families who want everyone to meet the pet first, we also offer gift certificates as a heartfelt alternative. Our goal is to create a truly special holiday moment, one that leads to lasting, successful matches and helps even more homeless pets find the loving homes they deserve,” said Cory Keller, President and CEO.

Potential adopters can expect to supply their contact information and address where the animal will be delivered, as well as a photo release so that Friends for Animals staff and volunteers can take videos and photos to be posted on social media, spreading the holiday cheer. There will be a small donation for the “magical elves” to deliver the new furry family members to the adopters’ homes.

The radius for delivery is 35 miles. The organization has also created gift certificates available for purchase for those who want to give the gift of a pet but are unsure who their loved one may want to adopt.

Friends for Animals is a 501c3 organization and is located at 16121 Reckinger in Dearborn. Friends for Animals is dedicated to the rescue, protection, and adoption of companion animals in need, while inspiring the human-animal bond. Friends for Animals was founded in 1996 by volunteers who believed that homeless animals in our region deserve a second chance at life. Building on our strong sense of animal welfare, Friends for Animals has grown in the past 30 years to an organization of great impact in the companion animal welfare community. The organization helps find homes for approximately 2,500 dogs and cats each year.
