The Architecture of Time
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Join us on Thursday, June 25 for The Architecture of Time, one of the most powerful and thought-provoking programs of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival.
This concert takes you on a journey through three extraordinary musical worlds:
Caroline Shaw’s Plan & Elevation transforms gardens, architecture, and landscape into sound.
Brahms’ Sonata for Piano and Cello No. 1 unfolds from a dark, haunting opening into music of remarkable warmth and beauty.
Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, written while the composer was a prisoner of war during World War II, invites us to experience music not as a sequence of minutes and seconds, but as something timeless. Filled with moments of stillness, wonder, and reflection, it remains one of the most moving chamber works ever written.
🎤 Stay after the concert for a special Q&A with the artists and learn more about the music you just experienced.
