Celebrating more than twenty-five years on the air, American Public Media’s Pipedreams is the only nationally distributed weekly public radio program that explores the full range of the art and potential of the pipe organ.
Locally supported by the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the Detroit Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
So, I heard some organ music on this station around 2:18pm today that I really like and I sure would like to know the name of the song….
Hello listener, here is the playlist for that program: http://pipedreams.publicradio.org/listings/2020/2005/
I really missed Pipe Dreams today. When will it return?
Hello listener, sorry about that, we had technical troubles. Plan for next weekend!
What is happening to Pipedreams today, October 21st?
Hello Marijke, we are playing a live broadcast of Michigan Opera Theatre’s “Eugene Onegin” today but Pipedreams will return next weekend.
Don’t like having to say this, but the music that was played today between 2:30 & 3:00 was way too abstract for your listening audience. Could not hear the music at all during many intervals because of the music being played so very-very low! This is a big no-no in my book, please play music the audience can hear without having to strain too badly, or having to adjust the volume so often.
Thank You,
Randall
Hello Randall, sorry about that. Some classical pieces have a very wide range from very loud to very quiet. We try to manual adjust the levels sometimes if necessary.
Hi, just heard a piece today (3/4/18,) the one prior to 2:23. It was some sort of Chinese piece but I did not catch the name. What was the name and is there somewhere where I can hear a recording of it? Thanks.

Today 2/4/18 on Pipe Dreams I heard the most magnificent rendition of ‘What a Friend We Have In Jesus’. Who was the organist and can I purchase that recording?
“What a friend we have in Jesus” was performed by Ben Kerswell on a 1988 Holtkamp Organ at 1st United Methodist Church, Iowa City, IA. It doesn’t look like he has a cd out at this time. Here is some more info on him: http://www.agokc2018.com/programming/performers/ben-kerswell
What was the song medley that you played around 2:30 today? Sorry. That’s all I know. I believe it was a young man playing a theatre organ.
Hello Steve,
We had an Oklahoma Medley during Pipe Dreams by Richard Rodgers. Was that it? Here is all the stuff from that hour:
GEORGE GERSHWIN: I got rhythm, fr Girl Crazy –Justin LaVoie
EDWARD ELGAR: Imperial March –Edward Dean
RICHARD RODGERS: Oklahoma Medley –Owen Reid
SERGEI RACHMANINOFF: Vocalise –Thomas Gaynor
COLE PORTER: Easy to love/It’s de-lovely, fr Anything Goes –Nicholas Halbert
JEROME KERN: All the things you are, fr Very Warm for May–Chase Loomer

Thank you! You’ve helped me locate the song for which I was looking. 🙂
No problem.
