Listener Music Fund

WRCJ EXCLUSIVE for a LIMITED TIME! This 13-tune, 76-minute CD is a reissue compilation of performances by legendary Detroit jazz trumpeter Marcus Belgrave, recorded between 1987 and 2002, performing in various jazz styles.  Sadly, Marcus passed away in May 2015.  This CD is our thank you for your contribution of $40 or more to WRCJ. JazzFest Detroit | Saturday, September 5 at 6 pm

WRCJ Jazz Host John Penney will broadcast JazzFest Detroit direct from the Detroit Jazz Festival from Hart Plaza from 6 pm to 9 pm.  John will interview many of the notable jazz musicians performing during the Festival.  If attending, stop by the WRCJ tent (Booth #204) during the Festival (September 5 through September 7) and say “Hi.”

Film Classics | Sunday, September 6 at 6 pm

13th WarriorTHE 13th WARRIOR

Jerry Goldsmith’s epic score composed for the 1999 John McTiernan historical adventure film that starred Antonio Banderas a medieval Arab who gets mixed up with some Vikings!  The movie bombed at the box office, but it certainly wasn’t the fault of the music.  The original soundtrack recording conducted by the composer.

Detroit Performs Live! | Friday, September 18

Celebrate the arts in Detroit at Detroit Performs LIVE with Alexander Zonjic & friends. New Jazz Hosts
Please welcome Lee Thomas and Greg Bridges as new hosts for WRCJ’s Jazz Overnight from 11p to 5a.  Both are jazz experts and musicians (trumpet and drums, respectively) and, for now, will share time with archive recordings from Bob Parlocha, who passed away suddenly in March.
