This morning I was listening on my Google mini in the bedroom and heard it was Vivaldi’s birthday! Then I heard his Gloria which is my most favorite piece in all the world. My cleaning immediately ceased and I sat the listened! Thank you so much. Pixie Hedlund
Thanks, sounds like your Google mini makes it easy to listen to the station. Sorry to interrupt your cleaning! Its nice that of all Vivaldi’s pieces, you got to hear your favorite.
My husband and I both enjoy the programming on your radio station. Consequently, we’d like to help you out by pointing out that Lincoln’s birthday is February 12th and Washington’s birthday is February 22nd. Presidents’ Day celebrates both, and this year happens to fall on February 15th.
Thank you Linda, we usually celebrate Presidents’ Day with appropriate music. Hope you enjoy it!
Nice to hear organ music both yesterday and today, keep it coming!
Even after more than fifty years in Canada I miss the accessibility available in The Netherlands 🇳🇱.
Once the border is open again I hope there will be concerts/recitals I can come across for.
Your welcome Marijke. Hopefully you’ll be able to travel again soon!
Just a heads-up for your news announcers. Even though it’s spelled Eli, the first name of the new Washtenaw County prosecutor is pronounced “Elly,” i.e. the vowels are short rather than long. I didn’t know this myself until I heard someone say his name during the campaign and thought *they* had made a mistake. I now sit corrected.
Oh ok, thanks for the info Jeff.
I listen to Exploring Music with Bill McLaughlin at 5AM as often as possible. I find it annoying when the WRCJ “commercials” play over Bill’s words between songs. His talks are an important part of the show and I miss some of them because of the interruptions. Is it possible to eliminate these announcements before 6AM?
Hi Bill, we’re taking a look at the program and spots now…
Thanks! It seemed much better today. I only recall hearing one WRCJ announcement and it seemed to be properly coordinated with the show.
Oh excellent! Bill does leave areas in his show for us to put in spots, although if they start too abruptly it might sound like they’re cutting in.
This is a note for Cecilia Sharpe.
I love the name you have given your program—am listening right now and hope you will continue on the station.
As for theme music I fell in love with Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in C# minor when I learned to play it at 12. I’m sure it is an obvious choice but I still vote for it. Best wishes to you!
Marjie Scott
Thank you Marjie, we are happy you enjoyed her show.
enjoying C Sharps fun show this Sunday.
Thanks C
I bet your father liked hearing his choice be played
Which wonderful piece did you play today at 2:50 pm just after Kleiber’s Beethoven 7th? It had a wonderful bassoon bass line and is not listed on the playlist.
Oh no the host added in a piece and didn’t right down which one it was… sorry Kyle, it’s harder to check into such things when we’re working remotely.
John Penney’s Jazzfest Detroit sounded especially nice Saturday evening. I liked the extra emphasis on vibraphone and guitar music. It’s always nice to hear Milt Jackson play the Vibes!
Thanks Bill! John picks themes for his shows sometimes, sounds like you found this one.
Thank you for making the Mike/Peter Wolf Christmas Special available on radio and then on your site. A wonderful discussion of Handel, the Oratorio itself and of course the nostalgia factor.Leave it up for a while for repeated enjoyment. Thank you.
Thank you Saundra, yes we’ll leave it On Demand for you.
Thanks for the Mike Whorf Kaleidoscope today – it was the perfect Christmas eve music. I love the Messiah and just listening to Mike Whorf’s history of Handel and the music was a wonderful gift. I even loved the Faygo commercial – which probably will stay in my head all day!
Thank you Ellen, sorry about the earworm!
Thanks so much for featuring the Kaleidoscope Christmas special of Handel’s Messiah on 12/20. Always enjoyed listening to Mike Whorf back then! It was even fun listening to the old commercials (except the Fayo one will be in my head the rest of the day😉). Hope you consider having this and other programs available in archives on demand?
Best wishes on your future endeavors!
Hi Karen, thank you. We have lots of interviews On Demand and a few specials including the Kaleidoscope: Messiah which you can find here: https://soundcloud.com/wrcj909fmhd1/kaleidoscope-christmas
To News person
I finally figured out how to pronounce Sherry Gay-Dagnogo’s name. It’s Italian, so the “gn” is like the “gn” in lasagna so it would be “Dan-yo-go” which is how she pronounces it, I think.
It’s so great to hear Cecilia Sharpe again! I hope her Sunday show will be a regular feature.
Thanks Maia, we hope to do “Live with C#” once each month (dates to be determined…)
Thanks for the occasional Christmas music – just heard one this morning. Need more, please! I listen to you from morning until night and could use much more music of the season. We need it this year!!
Ok Dorothea, more on the way!
I would like to nominate Hot Yoga Grosse Pointe. The owner/owneress is Mary Ella Jones and she is the owner/certified instructor. They are located at 15000 Kercheval cornering Wayburn in Grosse Pointe Park.

I have just renewed my sustaining membership. Thank you for all the fine music and fun. I particularly enjoy the repartee between Dave and Peter. I also wanted to mention my favorite small business – our favorite restaurant – The Waltz Inn – in Waltz, MI, Huron Township.
Thank you Mary, for the nomination and the support!
Could you please publish the playlist for the Memorial on Belle Isle from Aug. 31? I would love to see the full playlist & to share it with my students. Thank you.
