20 year anniversary!

Special Events

90.9 FM WRCJ began weekday broadcasts of classical music programming from studios in the Detroit School of Arts on Monday, November 14, 2005.  With the debut of morning host Dave Wagner at 6 a.m., locally-originated classical music returned to Detroit airwaves for the first time since 1997. Dr. Dave was previously a popular personality at the former WQRS until the commercially-licensed station changed it’s programming. Dave was joined at 90.9 WRCJ by hosts Chris Felcyn and Ann Delisi. Chris was familiar to classical audiences from his long-running public radio program “The Listening Room” while Ann had an extensive background at various Detroit public and commercial stations.

The station has grown and changed so much since then, but through it all one thing has stayed constant: our dedication to bringing metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan great music. We’re honored to be a part of your community and to have joined so many of you in your daily routines. Thank you for 20 great years! We’ve loved every minute of it. The team made a short anniversary video and Christa Grix has put together several audio features this year celebrating other 2025 Musical Milestones. Watch and listen below.
