Qualified Charitable Distributions

You can transfer funds from your IRA directly to 90.9 WRCJ—this is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). QCDs are an effective way to immediately impact the future of public media while also potentially reducing the amount of income tax you owe.

Because the IRS requires that you receive no goods or services in exchange for your QCD, you are not eligible to receive thank you gifts when making a gift from your IRA.

Here is the information you’ll need for your IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution:
Your IRA custodian can send the gift by check or electronic transfer.

Make checks payable to 90.9 WRCJ and send to:
90.9 WRCJ
48325 Alpha Drive, Suite 150
Wixom, MI 48393
Attention: Member Services

EIN/TIN:

How QCDs Work

-Age Requirement: You must be 70.5 years or older to participate.
-Donation Limits: An individual can contribute up to $100,000 per year, and a married couple up to $200,000.
-Tax Advantages: The QCD is not taxable income nor does it qualify for a tax deduction. But you win either way — especially if you do not itemize deductions.
-Income Impact: Because the QCD doesn’t count as income, it could potentially lower your annual income level, affecting Medicare premiums and the taxation on Social Security.
-Annual RMDs: If you’re 72 or older, most funds transferred count toward your annual Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA.

Consult your financial advisor or tax professional to fully understand how QCDs, Medicare, and Social Security rules might impact your financial situation.
